First, I've never seen anything in relation to Star Wars. Not sure why, just never really came across it I guess. But I do have a nerdy side of me that is related to space. I love space stuff and NASA telescopes and all that junk. Space is one of the most intriguing things to me. Like, do you know how big it is? No, you don't, because it's too big. It makes my head hurt when I see these images the Hubble telescope has captured of the things that are like thousands of lightyears wide/away from earth. I can't even get my mind around just one light year. (Louie Giglio has a great series dealing with all this stuff called Indescribable- here's part of it).
But anyways, I read this article today and immediately thought of God's hugeness, his creativity, his mystery. Mind you, the article talks about the Big Bang, but seriously? I'm not even gonna go there. But this exploding star was from 13 billion years ago. 13 billion! And the light of it just now reached earth. I understand that there are differing views from the beginning of time even in the Christian realm. But either way, it's pretty old. I often wonder what things were like before God decided to create earth, time, and the human race. But that makes God so intriguing to me at the same time. All this exists just because He spoke. It was hard for me just to get my dog to sit when I spoke, much less create a galaxy. God is big, God is so far beyond our imagination, God is a wonderful mystery. And this same God loves us, sinners, and died for us so that we might be redeemed and reconciled to our Creator. What a mystery.
